PUTRAJAYA – The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) has agreed that the interval for AstraZeneca vaccine shots will be shortened to nine weeks from the current 12-week gap, said National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said this after taking delivery of one million AstraZeneca vaccine doses donated by Japan at the KL International Airport today.
Based on the recommendation from our Technical Working Group & with greater clarity of the delivery schedule, @JKJAVMY has decided to shorten the dosing interval for AZ from 12 to nine weeks. Those who participated in the first round of AZ will be notified of their 2nd appt soon.

Khairy said more than one million recipients of the first AstraZeneca first injection in May will receive their notifications as soon as possible to get a second injection.
“Based on the JKJAV meeting last week and the Japanese government’s vaccine contribution, we agreed to reduce the time for the second injection of the AstraZeneca vaccine dose to nine weeks,” he said today.
On the issue of 700,000 senior citizens who signed up for PICK but have yet to receive vaccinations, Khairy said the issue will be resolved this month.
