KUALA LUMPUR – In the eyes of Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, the Pakatan Harapan government elected in the 2018 polls was ousted “democratically” in the infamous Sheraton Move in February last year.
In a Facebook post today, the PAS president criticised the now opposition coalition, which he accused of focusing only on grappling for federal power amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said the global health crisis is a test from God, and can be overcome only by an Islamic government.
On PH, he said the pact won the 14th general election through false promises in its manifesto, aided by cybertroopers paid to continue spreading lies.
The coalition, when it took Putrajaya, brought with it a liberal approach not suited to Malaysian society, including challenging the position of Islam and the Malay rulers, and supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights, he said.
In the end, the PH government was toppled democratically when there was a realisation among certain MPs, who decided to return to the right path to save the nation.”
PH wrested federal power in the historic vote on May 9, 2018 that saw Barisan Nasional suffering it first-ever general election defeat.
Following a power struggle, however, certain “architects” within the political sphere devised a move – panned as undemocratic – to oust PH and form Perikatan Nasional, which became the government on March 1, 2020.
Over 16 months since coming to power, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s position as prime minister remains uncertain, holding only a slim majority in Parliament and facing threats of Umno MPs withdrawing their support.
Despite Covid-19, said Hadi, PH continues to vie for power, threatening public life.
“After they (PH) failed to copy PN’s move to obtain statutory declarations, they tried to push for a motion of (no) confidence, which also failed, besides trying to form a new political alignment.”
This is in reference to speculation that the opposition pact may consider forming an unlikely alliance with Umno.
Earlier in his post, Hadi said Covid-19 is God’s will, and no power – including developed countries – can challenge this.
What’s happening is a test for humans to self-improve and endeavour with the intellect and knowledge endowed by Allah.
“The faithful will be rewarded with ‘pahala’ for remaining patient and being grateful. The non-believers will endure the suffering in this world and the hereafter.
“Only an (Islamic) government can destroy this pandemic at any time… Only those who are ignorant of the religion will look for weaknesses and shortcomings, without offering help in these trying times.” – The Vibes, July 5, 2021
