KUALA LUMPUR – The National Security Council has allowed all goods at sundry shops, convenience stores, supermarkets and minimarts to be sold to customers throughout the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made following confusion that arose among premises owners that sealed several sections of their goods at their respective business premises without selling them to customers.

In clarifying the issue further, Ismail Sabri also announced that operation hours for food premises during Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the NRP will be from 6am to 10am as set previously.

“To avoid any confusion, I would like to stress that only food premises at EMCO (enhanced movement control order) areas including localities in Selangor and the Federal Territories will operate from 8am to 8pm,” he said in a statement, today.

The government, he added, also allowed all those under the EMCO to travel for vaccination purposes.

“Those who need to return to their hometown to transport their family members across state and district lines will also be allowed. They only need to show their MySejahtera appointment and seek permission from the police.

“For the purposes of vaccinations, a maximum of three people is allowed per vehicle including the driver,” he said.

The council, he added, said Employee Provident Fund (EPF) offices at EMCO areas are allowed to operate from 9am to 1pm with a capacity of 60% workers to manage government-aid schemes.

“However smaller EPF offices especially in rural areas are allowed to operate under full capacity,” he added. – The Vibes, July 5, 2021
