KUALA LUMPUR – New Covid-19 cases in Malaysia remain in the 7,000s again today, with 7,097 fresh infections logged over the past 24 hours.
This is a slight drop from yesterday’s 7,654 cases.
The Health Ministry said this takes the cumulative tally to 799,790.
There were 4,863 recoveries, raising the total to 719,678, while there were 91 deaths, with cumulative fatalities now at 5,768.
There are 948 people in intensive care units, with 441 on respiratory support.
Selangor remains the state with the highest number of cases at 3,119, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,005), Negri Sembilan (788), Melaka (358), Sarawak (289), Pahang (258), Sabah (244) and Johor (224).
The states that saw fewer than 200 cases are Kedah with 198, followed by Perak (187), Penang (140), Kelantan (123), Labuan (93), Terengganu (43), Putrajaya (26) and Perlis (2).
Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 15 out of 91 deaths today involved those with no listed comorbidities.
Among the 15 recorded deaths, two individuals in their 20s with no comorbidities were recorded.
The two deaths are a 25-year-old man in Selangor and a 26-year-old man in Melaka.
He said the 18 new clusters were detected today, nine from the community, six from the workplace, one from higher education, and two from high-risk groups.
In Selangor, the Sejantung higher education cluster in Hulu Selangor has 96 cases, while the Jalan Parit Mahang cluster in Kuala Selangor registered 45 cases, the Jalan Panchang cluster in Sabak Bernam recorded 14 cases, and the Pasar Orkid Sentosa cluster had 20 cases.
The Jalan Metro Perdana workplace cluster involved several areas in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and registered 19 cases, while the Taman Dovenby cluster in Perak and Selangor logged 34 cases.
Negri Sembilan’s Industri Lengkok Emas Nilai cluster had 68 cases and Tasik Utama 2 had 27 cases in Seremban and Port Dickson.
Meanwhile, Johor registered the Jalan Bukit 17 cluster with 16 cases, the Jalan Pulasan 18 cluster with 14 cases, and the Jalan Limau Kampung Pasir cluster with eight cases in Johor Baru.
Sarawak recorded the Lorong Tiga Kampung Siol Kandis cluster in Kuching and Samarahan with 69 cases, and the Sg Bedil Besar cluster in Kuching.
In Sabah, the Pintasan Kota Belud cluster had 18 cases and the Siasai Dundau cluster recorded 35 cases in Kota Belud.
The Industri Jalan TMP Lapan workplace cluster in Melaka Tengah, Melaka recorded 22 cases, and the Jalan Tun Razak Peringgit cluster registered 29 cases.
In Kelantan, the Jalan Nik Yusuf cluster in Pasir Mas recorded 14 cases. – The Vibes, July 7, 2021
