KUALA LUMPUR – Factories in sectors such as electrical and electronics, aerospace (maintenance, repair, and operations), and machine and equipment (food and beverages) will be allowed to operate today onwards during the enhanced movement control order in Selangor.
In a statement today, the International Trade and Industry Ministry said the food and beverage factories considered essential will be released on its official website.
“This decision is made after the ministry’s consideration that the role of these sectors are significant in the global supply chain for health and food and beverage industries.
“The manufacturers involved can restart their operations by using the existing approval letters obtained via CIMS 3.0 with the ‘PKP3.0’ acronym dated June and beyond.
“It is the manufacturers’ responsibility to ensure standard operating procedure adherence, especially to the 60% capacity limit on premises and requirement that 40% of staffers work from home. Those found in violation will be fined or ordered to close for a certain period of time.”
Recently, netizens have been flooding Facebook pages of ministries, agencies, and leaders urging the federal government to shut down factories, as they have proven to be Covid-19 hotspots.
