KOTA KINABALU – A four-year-old girl who was infected by the coronavirus is the reason the Keningau district is seeing 18 new cases, all of which have been categorised as the Kayu Patikang Cluster.
As the name of the cluster goes, the cases involve workers at a wood processing factory in Keningau.
“The new and only cluster detected in the state today – Kayu Patikang Cluster – was when a 4-year-old non-Malaysian was tested positive with Covid-19 in Keningau Hospital, after she experienced symptoms,” said Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun in his daily update.
“The index case – believed to be a close contact of the factory workers – had contracted 18 people. This contributed to all 18 cases in the Keningau district.
Sabah recorded 271 new Covid-19 cases today, a slight increase from 251 cases yesterday, with the highest in Beaufort (70), Kota Kinabalu (61), and Tawau (24). – The Vibes, July 11, 2021
