IPOH – Police are investigating a message scrawled in red paint on the wall of a mosque in Taman SPPK in Pasir Puteh here.
Ipoh police chief Yahaya Hassan said a report was lodged by a mosque committee member at 9.07am yesterday.
“The complainant saw the words ‘jangan buka bunyi terlalu kuat’ (don’t turn up the volume of the loudspeaker) spray-painted on the wall near the main entrance when he and his wife arrived at the mosque about 5.15am,” he told Bernama today.
“No one else was seen in the area at that time.”
The complainant, who is also the mosque’s muezzin, said recitations of Quranic verses are played over the loudspeaker for 10 minutes each morning before the Subuh call to prayer.
The case is being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code for defiling a house of worship.
