ALOR STAR – Another four Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) staffers tested positive for Covid-19 after showing symptoms, said Kedah Health Department director Dr Othman Warijo.

He added that all the state’s hospitals are instructed to strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“We had a total of 216 Covid-19 patients at the HSAH until noon yesterday. The government hospitals in Kedah only admit Covid-19 patients and semi-urgent cases,” he told The Vibes.

He added HSAH has a total of 626 beds and has room for admissions.

Dr Othman had yesterday said the situation at the hospital was under control as the last Covid-19 case was recorded on Monday after 42 staffers tested positive on July 9.

He added that the hospital operations have returned to normal, but he promised to adhere to strict standard operating procedures to break the chain of infection as he does not want last week’s situation to recur anywhere in the state.

The hospital made headlines after 42 staffers tested positive last Friday, although there have been no details on the variants involved.

Dr Othman added that non-emergency and non-Covid-19 appointments have been postponed. – The Vibes, July 16, 2021
