KUALA LUMPUR – Anyone who has been given an “empty” Covid-19 vaccine shot will get injected again, said Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

The health minister said these individuals will be notified of a new appointment.

“They will be called in again for an injection,” he told Berita Harian today.

His comments follow viral videos showing people getting jabbed with “empty” syringes at various vaccination centres (PPVs).

The Vibes yesterday reported on a social media user claiming to have not been properly vaccinated.

The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) in a statement said it will conduct a full investigation into the allegations with the authorities, including police and the army.

It noted several incidents of “empty syringes” used at PPVs including the Bangi Avenue Convention Centre and Sg Petani Airport Camp.

CITF said vaccination officers are required, as per the standard operating procedures, to show recipients the syringe containing the vaccine dose before administering it.

Social media user Tan Wing Sam is among those who raised the troubling issue, sharing how he suspects that he was not actually administered the Pfizer shot at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre PPV.

He said he was jabbed with an “empty” syringe, where the plunger was pushed all the way, but he did not see the nurse withdrawing any liquid from the vaccine vial.

After he confronted the nurse, she told him that she could just give him another dose, which she proceeded to do, he said.

Tan uploaded an audio recording of his exchange with an apologetic supervisor following his complaint. – The Vibes, July 20, 2021
