KUALA LUMPUR – The police station chief allegedly involved in a ketum-fuelled party has been suspended from duty after testing positive for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) director Datuk Azri Ahmad told Getaran that he is awaiting further reports related to the drug test.
He added that the officer, who is ranked sub-inspector, will be sacked if found guilty.
“The investigation into the violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) by entertaining at the station is being investigated by the Kajang district police headquarters.
“To facilitate investigation without interruption, the station chief is temporarily suspended.
“The Royal Malaysia Police will not compromise if any officer is found violating the law or SOPs set by the government.”
Four cops, including the station chief, as well as four women, had been arrested for partying in a Kajang police station the day before.
JIPS had conducted a raid at about 6pm after being alerted by the public to the gathering.
The suspects were found to be participating in karaoke and dancing, and consuming alcohol and ketum-laced drinks in a room fitted with disco lights on the station’s second floor.
The raiding team detained the station chief, with the rank of sub-inspector, along with two corporals, a support corporal, and the women aged between 21 and 37.
Bottles of liquor and ketum drinks, speakers, recorders, microphones, a TV, and lewd photos of one of the detained officers with a woman were seized.
Azri was quoted by Berita Harian as saying the gathering was in breach of Covid-19 SOPs.
He said investigations are ongoing under Section 269 of the Penal Code for negligence that may result in the transmission of a life-threatening infectious disease. – The Vibes, July 22, 2021
