KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today logged 17,150 Covid-19 infections in yet another day of cases above the 17,000 mark.
Selangor claims 6,326 fresh cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,086) and Kedah (1,511).
Johor saw 1,045 cases, Sabah 1,002, Negri Sembilan 809, Penang 752, Perak 693, Melaka 686, Pahang 676, Sarawak 578, Kelantan 459, and Terengganu 429.
Putrajaya recorded 72 infections, Perlis 21, and Labuan five.
The latest figures take the national tally to 1,130,422 cases since the pandemic began.
Today saw 11,326 recoveries, taking the cumulative tally to 925,965.
There were 160 deaths, making a total of 9,184.
1,059 people are in intensive care units, with 531 on respiratory support.
The nation’s infectivity rate or Ro, stands at 1.10 as of yesterday.
Perlis has the highest at 1.47, followed by Terengganu (1.42), Kelantan (1.27), Sabah (1.21), Kedah (1.21), Perak (1.21), Putrajaya (1.20), Penang (1.18), Johor (1.17), Pahang (1.15), Kuala Lumpur (1.10), Selangor (1.08), Sarawak (1.05), and Melaka (1.05).
Negri Sembilan is at 0.90 while Labuan is at 0.70.
The Health Ministry reported 23 new clusters today.
11 clusters came from worksites in Johor, Kelantan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Melaka, recording a total of 679 cases.
Eight community clusters in Kelantan, Sarawak, Sabah and Selangor logged 196 cases, while two clusters linked to high-risk groups in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur recorded 52 cases.
A higher learning institution cluster in Selangor recorded 25 cases, while a detention centre cluster in Kelantan logged 12 cases today. – The Vibes, August 1, 2021
