KUALA LUMPUR – Perlis, Labuan and Sarawak will transition into Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) on Wednesday, said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin after a National Security Council (NSC) meeting today.
Muhyiddin in a Facebook post today said he chaired the NSC meeting to discuss details on relaxing restrictions for fully vaccinated folk.
The meeting also covered the relaxing of restrictions for the economic sector, he added.
“The matter needs to be carefully studied to ensure the efforts by the government to restore the economy and raise the quality of living of the people are effectively and smoothly implemented.
“God willing, I will make an announcement on the matter in the near future. It is hoped that it will benefit those who have completed their vaccination and the economy, while taking into account public safety.”
Muhyiddin said the government’s strategy in combating Covid-19 is to vaccinate as many Malaysian adults as possible, to ensure the country’s road to recovery runs smoothly.
“The more vaccinated, the more protected, and the more burden and pressure is reduced on the healthcare system in the country, with more economic and social sectors opened.”
He also congratulated the states that have made it to Phase 3 of the NRP.
“I would like to remind (all) to continue to comply with all standard operating procedures set to improve the pandemic situation in the states.
“I hope that with the cooperation of all quarters in the country, there will be more states that move on to the next phases (of the plan).
“We should remain optimistic and move forward, so the country’s recovery can be carried out safely and systematically.”
So far, Perak, Penang, Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu and Sabah are in Phase 2.
Today, Sarawak recorded 411 Covid-19 cases, while Perlis has nine and Labuan, seven. – The Vibes, August 2, 2021
