No Covid-19-positive ape in Gua Musang, Health Dept clarifies

KOTA BARU – The Kelantan Health Department has denied a claim that an ape in Gua Musang tested positive for Covid-19.

Director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said the department has not conducted coronavirus screenings on animals.

“(The claim) is unreasonable. We do not do swab tests on apes,” he told Bernama briefly.

He was asked to comment on a viral Facebook post showing a photo of an ape wearing a pink wristband similar to that given to Covid-19 patients under quarantine. – Bernama, August 5, 2021
