KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has been informed that Covid-19 vaccines are being sold by a private non-healthcare company to private groups for about RM400 for two doses (enough for one person).
MMA in a statement today claimed that a private healthcare facility has been engaged to carry out the vaccinations.
“MMA takes a serious view of this matter as currently, the government is the only official importer and distributor of vaccines approved by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency,” said president Datuk Dr Subramaniam Muniandy.
“All vaccines in the country are free of charge to the public and exclusively available via the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
“If the allegations about privately sold vaccines are proven to be true, stern action must be taken against both the private non-healthcare company and healthcare facility involved.”
He urged the relevant authorities, including the Malaysian Medical Council, to conduct a full investigation on the matter.
