SHAH ALAM – The industry vaccination centre (PPVIN) at Midlands Convention Centre in Section 7 here will be closed today for coordination of duties regarding the vaccination of industrial workers.

“It was the PPVIN management that made the decision (on the one-day closure),” Shah Alam district police chief Baharudin Mat Taib said briefly when contacted by reporters via WhatsApp today.

He also confirmed the authenticity of a viral video on social media showing crowds at the centre in long queues not practising physical distancing.

Media outlets reported today that migrant workers were told to leave the centre after long queues that stretched far beyond the centre’s perimeter formed as people waited for their Covid-19 vaccination this afternoon.

The centre’s management, with the assistance of a police team, took action after the migrant workers were found not complying with the standard operating procedures. – Bernama, August 5, 2021
