KUALA LUMPUR – Balik Pulau Umno chief Datuk Shah Headan Ayoob Hussain Shah joined several party mates in resigning from government-linked companies.
Shah Headan, in a letter posted on his Facebook page, said he is no longer a Universiti Putra Malaysia board member.
This decision is a symbolic act of loyalty to Umno and its Supreme Council, he added.
“Umno has made a resolution to withdraw support for the prime minister and Perikatan Nasional.
“With this, I announce my resignation. It is my responsibility as a party member to follow and respect the decision made by Umno.”

Just yesterday, Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad stepped down as higher education minister.
Noraini, who is Parit Sulong MP, thanked the prime minister for her appointment, but said she will obey the directive issued by the Umno Supreme Council.
Boustead Plantation Bhd independent and non-executive director Abdul Aziz Julkarnain also resigned from his post to pursue other interests effective yesterday.
Boustead Plantation in a filing with Bursa Malaysia said the 43-year-old Sabah Umno Youth chief was appointed as a board member on September 1 last year.
On Tuesday, Umno’s Datuk Seri Shamsul Anuar Nasarah quit as energy and natural resources minister, after taking into consideration the party decision and stand.
“As an obedient and loyal member of Umno, I hereby resign as a federal cabinet member.
