BUTTERWORTH – A man died when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a divider at the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE) toll plaza this afternoon.

A Penang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victim, in his 30s, was believed to be on his way from Kulim to Butterworth when the 1pm incident occurred.

Initial investigation found that the victim lost control of his car and crashed into the concrete divider at a Touch ‘n Go lane, he added.

“The victim was trapped in the driver’s seat. Rescue teams were deployed from the Prai and Penanti fire stations, with rescue work taking about an hour and 40 minutes.

“However, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedic team. His remains have been taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital for autopsy.”
