IPOH – A total of 102 people from 29 families living in five villages around Taiping have been evacuated to two relief centres after their homes were flooded following continuous rain since last night.
A spokesman for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department in a statement said as of 7.30am today, there were 87 flood victims from Kg Sg Rentaka, Kg Changkat Baru and Kg Jebong Kiri placed at the SK Agama Rakyat Ngah Ibrahim Al Baraqah evacuation site.
Another 15 victims from Kg Sg Nyior and Kg Sg Tinggi were moved to the Sg Baru community hall.
The Meteorological Department yesterday issued a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for several areas in the state, namely Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim. – Bernama, August 19, 2021
