MIRI – Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) information chief Adam Yii has congratulated Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the new prime minister with hopes that the new leader will focus on tackling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Yii, who is also Miri mayor, told The Vibes that the appointment was expected.

“We congratulate the new PM (prime minister) and we hope this will bring new hope towards finding an end to the political woes the country is facing.

“More importantly, we hope there will be an end in sight to the worsening Covid-19 crisis.

“Sarawak today saw a new record high of 2,548 daily cases. We need to find an answer to tackling this pandemic.”

Yii said Ismail Sabri has the experience to lead the country.

“I hope political parties from both sides will support him.”

SUPP is part of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak state ruling coalition.

The other component parties are Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu, Parti Rakyat Sarawak and Progressive Democratic Party. – The Vibes, August 20, 2021
