KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan’s name has been floated as finance minister, as Malaysians await newly minted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s cabinet picks.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki suggested the party deputy president for the post to help the government realise the people’s demands about moratoriums, i-Citra and more stimulus packages.
“We need a finance minister who is familiar with the people’s suffering,” he posted on Facebook today.
“I suggest that we consider Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan as finance minister in the new cabinet. Do you agree?”
Seeing that Mohamad is currently only an assemblyman, he needs to first be appointed a senator before he can be considered for a minister post.
Ismail Sabri is expected to announce his cabinet soon after being appointed prime minister on Saturday. – The Vibes, August 23, 2021
