JOHOR BARU – Of the nearly 800 unvaccinated teachers in Johor, 396 rejected the Covid-19 jab because they had doubts over it.
The rest postponed their shots, citing allergies, pregnancy or other health conditions.
However, some teachers have now agreed to register for the vaccine, said Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who met 779 educators today after finding out they did not want to get inoculated.
“During the meeting, I also shared information regarding the vaccination programme in Johor, and the latest Covid-19 situation in the state.
“I hope teachers realise their responsibility to always prioritise the development of model citizens by setting a good example, and I hope they will get vaccined before schools reopen to ensure the rakyat’s health and well-being,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Present during the meeting, whether in-person or virtually, were Johor Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani, state Health Director Datuk Dr Aman Rabu, state Deputy Secretary (Management) Datuk Mohd Noh Ibrahim, state Mufti Datuk Yahya Ahmad, and state Deputy Mufti Datuk Ahmad Faisal Mohamed.
As of August 19, a total of 45,448 teachers in Johor, or 96.26%, received their first dose, while 23,746 were fully vaccinated. – The Vibes, August 27, 2021
