KINABATANGAN – The coronavirus pandemic should not be an excuse for people to not be patriotic, said Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, urging his constituents to fly the Jalur Gemilang at home.
Bung Moktar in a statement said the fighting spirit of the nation’s forefathers to gain independence should inspire Malaysians to fight against the invisible enemy: Covid-19.
“Don’t let the pandemic be an excuse for us to forget the moments when we achieved independence.
“There are a lot of ways for us to show our patriotism, such as putting up the Jalur Gemilang at our homes and being more disciplined when it comes to adhering to the standard operating procedures to prevent the virus’ spread.”
The Kinabatangan MP said the Merdeka spirit must continue despite the health crisis.
“We can differ in opinions on a lot of matters as we are faced with various challenges during the pandemic, but the matter of loyalty to the country and independence, that’s very important.”
On Wednesday, the national flag was distributed to residents here.
