199 Penang factory workers don pink bracelets after Covid-19 close contact

GEORGE TOWN – A total of 199 workers at a factory in Bayan Lepas have been directed to wear pink bracelets after coming into close contact with two new Covid-19 cases in the Bayan cluster.

Sources said this exercise involves 87 Nepalese men and 112 Indonesian women living in worker dormitories.

He added that the health office conducted a disinfection operation at the hostel and in three factory buses.

It is understood that the factory, a Beijing company, has stopped all operations for two days of sanitisation work.

Southwest district police chief Supt A. A. Anbalagan confirmed the incident.

Yesterday, the Health Ministry had announced a new cluster in Penang, known as the Bayan cluster.

So far, six positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported from the cluster with the total number of cases in Penang now at 851 cases.

Meanwhile at the D' Piazza Mall in Bayan Baru a customer at the Mykori dessert cafe tested positive on Friday, causing the area to undergo a disinfection process.

The mall management assures customers that the management will comply with the health standard operating procedures.

The dessert shop has been ordered to close for 14 days. – The Vibes, October 26, 2020
