KUALA LUMPUR – There are no more traces of pollution at Sg Semenyih, after pollution there caused water supply disruptions in various districts of Selangor.
Air Selangor said they had recorded a reading of zero TONs (threshold odour number) three times in a row from samples at Sg Semenyih.
This, Air Selangor said, allows operations to resume at the Sg Semenyih water treatment plant.
However, they said, cleaning work must first be conducted before water treatment operations resume.
“The cleaning and water treatment at the plant will take approximately 14 hours. In the meantime, Air Selangor will share recovery plans for all affected areas in a press statement tomorrow at 7am,” it said.
For mitigation measures, Air Selangor will allocate alternative water supplies from the Langat 2 and Labohan Dagangan treatment plants to certain areas in the Hulu Langat district and Kuala Langat.
Meanwhile, consumers in Kajang Baru, Kajang, Semenyih and Beranang in Hulu Langat, as well as Jenjarom, Teluk Panglima Garang, and Pulau Carey in Kuala Langat will receive alternative water supplies intermittently.
“Air Selangor has moved emergency water supplies to consumers in critical premises. 94 water tank lorries have been moved to areas where consumers have been affected throughout this unscheduled water disruption,” the statement added.
Earlier today, Air Selangor reported that 463 areas in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Sepang, Putrajaya and Kuala Langat were experiencing unscheduled water supply disruptions after odour pollution was detected at the Jenderam Hilir water pump station at 11.10am. – The Vibes, August 31, 2021
