KUALA LUMPUR – The confidence vote for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is not slated in the Dewan Rakyat Order Paper for the sitting between September 13 and October 12.
However, the motion to pick a deputy speaker is on the cards. Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said had quit as deputy on August 23.

The PKR communications director also highlighted a recommendation by the home minister for the inspector-general of police to ensure that entry of MPs into Parliament always remains accessible.

Two days earlier, the king, after meeting with political party chiefs, decreed that the appointed prime minister must immediately test his legitimacy in the Dewan Rakyat through a confidence vote.
However, on September 3, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim alleged that, in a meeting between opposition chiefs and the prime minister, Ismail Sabri had muttered to him that there may not be a need for a confidence vote.
Then, last Saturday, Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun issued a statement saying that, as Ismail Sabri was appointed according to established constitutional principles, a confidence vote is not required.
