KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s Special Envoy to the Middle East Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang today claims there are signs that outside forces are trying to stop the formation of an Islamic state in Afghanistan.
The PAS president said the main concern now is that a proxy war is being instigated in the war-torn country by the United States – which had just withdrawn its forces from there – and other Western countries.
In a post on PAS’ mouthpiece Harakah Daily, Hadi quoted Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, a Mujahideen leader working with Taliban forces, as saying that the latest resistance taking place in Panjshir, Afghanistan, is seeing the involvement of Western forces.
“His statement shows that there are attempts to stop the forming of a Muslim country so promised by the Taliban,” Hadi said.
He said this is despite the Taliban regime promising to lead the country with the concept of shura – an administration based on consultations – by giving rights to its people and without foreign interference.
Hadi has held a keen interest in developments in Afghanistan since the Taliban forces took over control of the state following the US withdrawal.
On August 25, Hadi had posted a separate statement supporting the Taliban, saying the outfit is now a more mature and sympathetic one, and that days of them administrating Afghanistan by terror and brute force are gone.
In today’s post, the PAS leader noted how Western countries are deliberately creating an issue out of nothing by expressing concern over women’s rights in Afghanistan, among others.
“For them, the freedom they aspire to is for Muslim women to stop covering up their aurat, Muslims to be allowed to drink alcohol and for promiscuity to exist.
“Although Islamic law doesn’t stop non-Muslims from doing things allowed in their respective religions, it appears they are uneasy if Muslims obey their own religious teachings. Is this the freedom they want?” he said.
Hadi cited Nigeria’s first prime minister, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, who was brutally murdered for empowering Islam in his country and other African nations, while Bosnia was forced to accept independence without their country being an Islamic one.
“Such were the conditions set on Muslim lands in the Westerners’ bid not to allow any country to form on the basis of Islam,” he said. – The Vibes, September 7, 2021
