GEORGE TOWN – Starting tomorrow, Penangites can walk into any of 10 vaccination centres (PPVs) for their inoculation.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the PPVs, including three on the island and seven in Seberang Prai, will be open from 10am.
He said the operating time is to avoid any inconvenience and congestion at the PPVs that have been listed to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“Among the criteria that need to be complied with is to be 18 years old and above, possess an identity card and not have registered or have an appointment via the MySejahtera application.
“In addition, those present will also be treated on a first come, first served basis, and must ensure that they are not quarantine patients, do not have symptoms or are a close contact of Covid-19 patients,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Chow said the state Health Department is also committed to improving the response time from call centres to monitor Covid-19 patients.
He said the response time is between 24 to 48 hours, depending on whether the patient is high or low risk.
“The state government has also taken initiatives with various parties, such as the operation of the Covid-19 assessment centre (CAC) hotline, Penang Covid-19 Unified Command Centre (PUCC), which is improved with patient transport facilities to low-risk quarantine centres, and PgCare Alliance.”
