KUALA LUMPUR – Of the total 1.88 million Covid-19 caseload, 91.5% (1,721,274) of them do not have a history of vaccination or have incomplete doses, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In a series of tweets, he shared that, of the 91.5%, 76.6% (1,441,205) do not have a history of being jabbed while 14.9% (280,069) have yet to be fully vaccinated.
This leaves 159,460 (8.5%) of the total infected who have been fully vaccinated, he added.
He said the caseload included cases announced yesterday.
Meanwhile, he added that, of yesterday’s 18,547 cases, 18,239 (98.34%) are in category 1 and 2, either asymptomatic or showing mild symptoms, and of that, 66.8% are not vaccinated or have yet to complete their jabs.
“There are 308 cases in category 3,4 and 5. Of that, 77.6% (239 cases) do not have a history of being vaccinated or did not complete their doses.”
In comparison, only 69 cases in the severe categories are fully vaccinated.
On the other hand, he told The Vibes that, while a specific date has yet to be fixed for the move to Phase 2, Dr Noor Hisham hinted that an announcement might be around the corner.
He said the dip in Selangor’s coronavirus infections was expected and in line with the Health Ministry’s forecast.
He indicated that the decline is due to the high vaccination rate in Selangor, as well as the Klang Valley as a whole.
Dr Noor Hisham added, however, that the decision on moving into Phase 2 will not be made by the ministry.
“The National Security Council will decide,” he said in a brief message to The Vibes.
Also, 97.1% of the Klang Valley’s adult population – more than 5.9 million people – is fully vaccinated, while 6,943,874 have received at least one dose, according to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee data.
As at 5pm yesterday, non-intensive care unit bed usage by coronavirus patients stood at 72%, and for ICU beds, 68%.
The Health Ministry said 311 coronavirus deaths were reported yesterday, taking the overall toll to 18,802.
Another 18,902 recoveries push up the total to 1,609,930. Of the 977 patients in intensive care, 447 are on ventilators. – The Vibes, September 8, 2021
