ALOR STAR – The chief executive of a government-linked company is among four individuals arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to facilitate investigations into alleged abuse of power involving some RM2.2 million.
A source with the anti-graft agency said the suspects, aged between 49 and 58, were nabbed at the Kedah MACC office between 3.45pm and 4.15pm today after they turned up to give their statements.
According to the initial probe, said the insider, the CEO and three senior officers of the GLC are suspected of abusing their power and position by channelling the firm’s funds to two other companies in which all the suspects have interests.
The offence was allegedly committed between 2016 and 2019.
State MACC director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap confirmed the arrests under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
He said the four are expected to be brought to court tomorrow for a remand order. – Bernama, September 8, 2021
