ALOR STAR – The chief executive and three senior officers of a government-linked company have been remanded for four days from today to facilitate investigations into the alleged abuse of power and position involving some RM2.2 million between 2016 and 2019.
Magistrates’ court assistant registrar Wan Nor Fadzilah Wan Ibrahim issued the remand order against the suspects, aged between 49 and 58, under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
An MACC source said the suspects were arrested at the agency’s Kedah office yesterday after their statements were recorded.
They are believed to have abused their power and position by channelling the GLC’s funds to two other companies in which they had interests. – Bernama, September 9, 2021
