KUALA LUMPUR – Putrajaya’s offer to transform Parliament and the government can change the country’s political landscape from one that is “confrontational” to that which is “not too partisan”, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said it is a significant milestone that will have a profound impact on Malaysia.
“It is a start. I am confident that in the near future, the government will take several more transformative measures that may not have been implemented before, but I see that the government led by the current prime minister has the political will, without any hesitation, to do good for the country,” he said on RTM’s Bicara Naratif programme last night.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday announced a seven-point plan to implement the transformation of Parliament and the government, to restore political stability amid the Covid-19 fight and efforts to revive the economy.
This includes tabling a bill against party-hopping, the implementation of Undi18 soon, and limiting the prime minister’s tenure to 10 years.
Confident that the proposed transformation is welcomed by the rakyat and opposition leaders, Annuar said the inclusive concept pushed by the government will continue to be a core thrust of Ismail Sabri’s leadership.
On the Keluarga Malaysia concept, he said it will bolster the people’s patriotic spirit.
“The values of harmony, unity, and having a sense of love and concern for one another, if we translate these in the management of the country, it becomes a management philosophy that has a very significant meaning in terms of nation-building.” – Bernama, September 11, 2021
