SHAH ALAM – Two teenagers were killed in an accident at Km8.5 of the Federal Highway here when the vehicle they were in crashed head-on with a four-wheel drive going against traffic flow at 2.09am today.
Shah Alam district police chief Baharudin Mat Taib in a statement today said initial investigations found that the Mitsubishi Triton, travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Klang, was being driven against traffic, and it crashed into the victims’ Proton Wira.
“The victims – an 18-year-old girl who was driving the car, and a 19-year-old boy – died on the spot.”
He said the bodies were take to Shah Alam Hospital’s Forensic Department for a post-mortem.
He said the Triton driver tested positive for marijuana and has been remanded for six days starting today.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving and causing death.”
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis in a statement said personnel took 30 minutes to extricate the bodies of the two victims. – Bernama, September 12, 2021
