JOHOR BARU – Three Singaporean women were killed in an accident, involving an MPV and a lorry on Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang, near Ladang Cenas, Bandar Tenggara, Kota High, at 1.52pm today.

According to the Johor Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre, the collision involved a Honda Freed MPV and a roll on/roll off (ro-ro) lorry.

It said that the victims who died were passengers in the Honda Freed, and were identified as Toh Poh Kian, 56, Soon Moh Tan and Wong Lan Yew, both 61.

“Meanwhile, the male driver of the Honda Freed, Ong Cheow Lam, 59, also a Singaporean, and the ro-ro driver, Ahmad Zani Karimon, 49, survived,” it said in a statement.

It added that the victims were handed over to the Health Ministry for further action.

Earlier, a fire engine with five firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene, and the operation ended at 2.35pm. – Bernama, August 28, 2023
