MALAYSIA'S overseas trade and investment missions have generated RM6.77 billion in export earnings and identified RM59.5 billion in potential investments, with RM14.2 billion of the investment pipeline already approved.
The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) said the results came from 14 official visits and trade and investment missions led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani from 2025 to September 2026.
The remaining RM45.3 billion in potential investments are at various stages of negotiation and follow-up, it said in a recent written parliamentary reply.
MITI said investment projects typically took between 18 and 24 months to materialise, depending on their scale, complexity and prevailing economic conditions.
The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) would continue its follow-up, monitoring and facilitation efforts to ensure the identified opportunities translated into actual project implementation.
On trade, the ministry said official visits to countries including Kenya, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, Japan, Italy, France, South Korea, China, Thailand, India and Russia had generated RM6.77 billion in exports through high-level engagements.
