[UPDATED] National Covid-19 count tops 2 mil with 15,669 cases today

KUALA LUMPUR – The country’s cumulative Covid-19 caseload has breached two million with the 15,669 new infections recorded today.

The latest cases make for a total of 2,011,440 since the pandemic began.

In the lead is Selangor with 2,632 fresh cases, followed by Sarawak (1,983), Johor (1,974), Sabah (1,784), Penang (1,651), Kelantan (1,406) and Kedah (1,207).

Perak saw 856 cases, Pahang (763), Terengganu (483), Kuala Lumpur (411), Melaka (329), Negri Sembilan (143), Perlis (30), Putrajaya (14) and Labuan (3).

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 1,266 cases are currently in intensive care, with 689 requiring breathing assistance.

Out of the total 15,669 cases reported today, only 283 (1.8%) are in Categories 3, 4, and 5, while 15,386 (98.2%) are in Categories 1 and 2.

He said the country has recorded a total of 5,182 clusters, including 29 new ones today.

Clusters that have ended amount to 3,734, leaving 1,448 still active.

Dr Noor Hisham added that 14 of the new clusters are related to workplaces, 12 came from the community, while three are from high-risk groups.

Both the Taman Prima Indah community cluster in Pasir Mas and the Kg Sg Keladi community cluster in Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah recorded the least cases with six infections each, while the cluster with the most new cases is the Kaping Sg Kiol community cluster in Jerantut, Pahang, with 87. – The Vibes, September 14, 2021
