KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun today corrected the number of beds occupied by Covid-19 patients, saying there was a miscalculation over the data in his Covid-19 daily updates.
He said the 99.5% of the overall beds occupied by patients were a cumulative number, saying the exact figure should be based on the number of active patients.
“I wish to set the record straight over the question posed to me on October 22 over the number of beds being occupied by the patients… The cumulative figure is based on the total number of patients who had undergone treatment and including those who had been discharged.
“The active numbers are those currently undergoing treatment. At this point, the number of beds in all the medical wards are 7,237 while the number of active cases is 3,796. This means 52.2% of the beds are occupied as of today,” he said.
Masidi said, however, the number of beds will be increased depending on needs and at present, there are nine dedicated Covid-19 hospitals. – The Vibes, October 29, 2020
