KUALA TERENGGANU – Six individuals have been issued compounds of RM5,000 each for crossing state lines to go on holiday on Pulau Redang.
Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa said the fines against the six, aged between 32 and 47, were issued in the last two days under an integrated operation to ensure compliance with tourism rules for states in Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan.
Two of the individuals were travelling from Kuala Lumpur, two from Selangor, and one each from Penang and Melaka.
“The operation will be conducted from time to time to ensure that no SOP violation occurs, so as to prevent an increase in Covid-19 infections in Terengganu,” he said in a statement today.
He said action will also be taken against resort operators who flout the SOPs, such as by allowing tourists from outside the state to stay on their premises and failing to ensure guests are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. – Bernama, September 26, 2021
