KUALA TERENGGANU – The Road Transport Department (RTD) has targeted for all tests involving 462,124 outstanding candidates at 232 driving institutes nationwide to be completed before year-end.
Deputy director-general (planning and operations) Aedy Fadly Ramli said to achieve this, the department will increase the number of testers by up to 20%, depending on the needs of each institute.
“RTD in each state has identified the number of candidates at each institute, and has sent data to the headquarters in Putrajaya for us to determine the number of additional testers required. Currently, RTD has 530 testers nationwide.
“Also, we will increase the daily quota of candidates to be tested at each institute. The number varies according to each facility’s capacity… therefore, the number of additional testers to be sent out is according to the needs of each institute,” he told reporters after visiting the Bitara Driving Institute near Padang Midin here today.
Present was Terengganu RTD director Zulkarnain Yasin.
Driving institutes are also advised to prioritise candidates whose tests have been postponed since last year, when the movement control order against Covid-19 was implemented.
Aedy Fadly said starting today, RTD will regularly monitor institutes’ compliance with the virus standard operating procedures set by the National Security Council. – Bernama, September 26, 2021
