KUALA LUMPUR – The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) will only operate until October 31, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

Adham, who is also the joint CITF chairman, said from November 1, the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) will be fully implemented by the Health Ministry (MoH) as its development has reached a commendable level.

“Following the current development of PICK at a good level, the mandate to immunise the populace, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, will be returned by CITF to MoH.

“I am confident MoH is indeed experienced and ready, especially as it is now actively vaccinating teenagers,” he said when attending the closing ceremony of the Bukit Jalil National Stadium vaccination centre (PPV) here today.

He said non-MoH PPVs currently managed by CITF are being closed down in stages nationwide and no more such PPVs are expected to be operational after October 31.

Dr Adham said that from this month, CITF would call on the public to submit its queries when PICK is regulated under MoH.

He said that MoH, his ministry, and CITF had started discussing and coordinating matters of transferring vaccination tasks to ensure they proceed smoothly.

CITF was established by a cabinet decision on February 3 this year to monitor the framework and overall strategy to support the implementation of PICK.

Meanwhile, he said all states in Malaysia have reached a vaccination rate of 60% fully vaccinated adults, after Sabah hit 60% yesterday. The target of 100% fully vaccinated adults nationwide approaches at the end of this month. – Bernama, October 1, 2021
