TENOM – The case of a China national who has been missing since October 1 from a construction site in Telekosang Mini Hydro Dam here was solved today after his body was found hanging on a tree.

The body of the 37-year-old victim, a skilled worker in tunnel drill works, was found in a decomposed state, leaving investigators to believe he died several days ago.

Tenom district police chief Hasan Majid said the victim was found at 10.30am by a search-and-rescue deployed since the victim was reported missing.

Hasan said the victim was discovered in a red T-shirt and short trousers hanging from a rope on a tree in the area.

“Before the victim went missing, he told his roommate that he wanted to leave the area to look for phone connection. However, he did not return until the next day, and his roommate told the management about his absence before a police report was lodged,” Hasan said today.

Police had launched the SAR operation comprising 54 personnel from the Tenom headquarters police station, General Operations Force and Sabah Police Drone Unit.

The operation was also assisted by K9 police dogs as well as personnel from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Force.

“The body of the deceased was sent to Tenom Hospital for a post-mortem and the case has been classified as sudden death,” he said. – The Vibes, October 7, 2021
