KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Najib Razak has urged everyone to “calm down” and read “in its full context” Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement in response to the French president following the beheading of a teacher who showed a cartoon of Prophet Muhammad.

“The world shld calm down & read @chedetofficial statement in its full context,” tweeted the former prime minister this morning.

“I’m sure he didn’t mean exactly what he said. And even if he did, it’s his personal opinion, not Malaysia’s.”

Najib added: “In meantime, some1 shld take away all his social media accounts before he does more damage.”

Dr Mahathir, in a series of 13 tweets yesterday, slammed the French response to the killing.

The 12th tweet has since been deleted for “glorifying violence”.

The statement is carried on his blog in full. – The Vibes, October 30, 2020
