KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today launched the Keluarga Malaysia concept document to act as a guiding framework towards achieving harmony and prosperity for all people in the nation.

During his speech, the prime minister said that despite the different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs of Malaysians, Keluarga Malaysia celebrates this through inclusivity and the spirit of nationhood.

“The plurality that we celebrate today will become the seed that will grow in the heart of every Malaysian. This must be an asset that we defend. Therefore, the values of Keluarga Malaysia will be an important component to determine the rise and fall of this fortunate land,” said Ismail Sabri.

The Bera MP also launched Skuad Keluarga Malaysia to monitor the coordination of all assistance delivery mechanisms for Malaysians who need it under one machinery.

The squad is headed by the Social Welfare Department under the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.

It is also a cross-agency collaboration involving multiple ministries, the private sector, and non-governmental organisations (NGO).

“Even though today is just the launch, there are already 10,000 Skuad Keluarga Malaysia members who are ready to be mobilised in all corners of the country to help the public who have been affected due to the pandemic.

“This number is expected to increase when more ministries, agencies and volunteers register (to join),” said Ismail Sabri.

He has also tasked all ministries and agencies to identify the right products that Putrajaya will utilise as part of its public aid effort for the nation.

Ismail Sabri foresees that this will sow the seeds of a performance-oriented culture of service under Keluarga Malaysia.

“The government will ensure that all Keluarga Malaysia products will give the positive impacts we are hoping for.

“Thus, the government is also introducing the key happiness outcome (KHO) as a mechanism to complement key performance indicators (KPIs).

“This guideline has been developed based on current universal values including the Happiness Index, which is being used by many countries worldwide,” said Ismail Sabri.

According to the concept document, the Keluarga Malaysia slogan, first introduced by Ismail Sabri in his inaugural speech as prime minister on August 22, is conceptualised to be inclusive, transcending the boundaries of religion, race, and ethnicity.

The overall message of the theme is focused on the Malaysian people’s openness to similarities and differences in society based on values and traits guided by the federal constitution and Rukun Negara.

With its vision geared towards healing the nation and guiding it to achieve the status of an advanced and high-income country, the Keluarga Malaysia framework is based on three main values: inclusivity, common ground, and contentment.

The inclusivity factor calls on the public to be respectful and caring to fellow countrymen while common ground emphasises unity through political transformation.

The contentment element is about being grateful and appreciating the history of the nation. – The Vibes, October 8, 2021
