Actor, director among 3 held on suspicion of drug abuse

KUALA KANGSAR – A 28-year-old actor is among three people arrested on suspicion of drug abuse in a raid on a house here yesterday.

District police chief Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob said a drama and film director, as well as an assistant, aged 49 and 47, respectively, are the other two suspects.

He said the trio were arrested by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department of the district police headquarters at 7.15am.

“An inspection of the three rooms in the house led to the discovery of cannabis and syabu estimated to be worth RM270,” he said in a statement today.

The suspects were taken to the Kuala Kangsar police headquarters for further investigation, he said, adding that they tested positive for narcotics.

He said checks found that the director has a drug record.

The three were remanded for two days starting yesterday to facilitate the probe under Sections 12(2), 6 and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama, October 11, 2021
