KUALA LUMPUR – The prime minister’s motion to annul the emergency ordinances has been postponed to the next Dewan Rakyat meeting.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tunku Jaafar (Santubong-GPS) said in a statement today that the decision was made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob following a request by the opposition leader to delay its tabling.

“The request was made to allow more time for the motion to be debated by MPs before passing the resolution.

“If we were to table it today, we would only have one hour to debate on the motion. I am requesting the Dewan Rakyat speaker defer this to the next session so we can allocate one whole day to debate this motion,” he said.

Earlier, he had made the request to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun and the matter was approved.

“I also request that the prime minister’s motion on annulling the emergency ordinances be rescheduled to the next sitting,” said Wan Junaidi.

The motion was among others that has been rescheduled to the next sitting. – The Vibes, October 12, 2021
