KUALA LUMPUR – The Selangor state government has allocated RM2.323 billion for its 2021 Budget.
Tabled by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari at the State Assembly today, the budget will see 53% of the amount, or RM1.22 billion allocated for the state’s administration and RM1.103 billion, or 47% for the state’s development.
Selangor expects to be able to collect RM2.2 billion next year which is the same estimate as with previous years.
“Among the main contributors to the state government’s revenue will be land premiums which amount close to RM1.03 billion or 46.98% of the total revenue.
“The second biggest contributor will be the land tax which amounts close to RM545.84 million or 24.81%. The third-largest contributor will be federal grants amounting to RM206.85 million or 9.4%.
“Taking into account the state revenue of RM2.2 billion and the estimated RM2.323 billion for expenses, the 2021 Budget will experience an RM123 million deficit due to the substantial allocation for development. This deficit is lower than the 2020 deficit of RM133 million,” said Amirudin.
Meanwhile, the state’s RM1.22 billion administration costs cover staff emolument of RM439.96 million, services and supplies worth RM520.43 million, assets worth RM4.8 million, grants and fixed payments worth RM203.51 million as well as RM51.3 million for other expenses.
Services and supplies make up the largest component of the state’s administration budget worth 42.66% of the state’s total administrative cost. – The Vibes, October 30, 2020
