KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is set to charge Labuan MP Rozman Isli at the sessions court here tomorrow morning.
The charges have not been specified.
Lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali will represent the Warisan lawmaker, the counsel’s office confirmed to The Vibes.
“Yes, he (Rozman) will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court at 9am tomorrow.
“However, we cannot yet reveal the details on what he is being charged with. That’s confidential.”
According to a source with knowledge of the case, Rozli may be charged under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009 for the offence of abusing one’s office or position to get gratification.
Rozli, in a brief text message to The Vibes, said he faced allegations of power abuse when he was a Labuan Port member several years ago.
“I am not frightened by these allegations and will fight them.”
He said several parties previously approached him to leave the opposition, but he refused to do so.
He added that he had been due to be charged earlier, but the date was changed twice.
Rozman has been Labuan MP for two consecutive terms. He won on an Umno ticket in 2013, and crossed over to Warisan in 2018 following that year’s general election. – The Vibes, October 13, 2021
