KUALA LUMPUR – Effective Monday, the quarantine period will be reduced for citizens, permanent residents, expatriates, diplomatic corps and foreigners, close contacts, and those entering Malaysia from high-risk areas.
The new policy sees individuals fully vaccinated against Covid-19 spending seven days in quarantine, while a 10-day period is imposed on those yet to complete their inoculation regimen.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin tweeted that “with the shortened quarantine period coming into effect on Monday 18 Oct, those currently under quarantine & have done seven days can do their PCR tests starting today. If you are negative, you will be released on Monday & will not need to quarantine for 14 days”.

“For individuals currently undergoing mandatory quarantine, they will be given a release order following the new quarantine policy,” he said in a statement.
“However, they must undergo an RT-PCR test before their release.”
Individuals on their fifth day of mandatory quarantine will undergo an RT-PCR test today. If found negative, they will be given a release order on Monday.
Those who are partially or yet to be vaccinated on their eighth day of quarantine will also undergo an RT-PCR test today.
Most of the other relaxed standard operating procedures come into force today, with e-hailing services operating at full capacity, and rest and service stations allowed to operate around the clock.
Cybercafes in states under Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan will be allowed to reopen at 80% capacity tomorrow, while those in Phase 4 states can operate at full capacity.
In-person meeting, incentive, convention and exhibition events will be allowed at 50% capacity for the fully vaccinated effective Monday, provided that these individuals test negative in a saliva or RTK-Ag test, comply with physical distancing, and wear a mask. – The Vibes, October 16, 2021
