KUALA LUMPUR – The Health Ministry has fixed security issues concerning the MySejahtera app after issues were reported yesterday.

During a press conference today, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin assured that MySejahtera’s information database was not breached.

“There has been no breach of data in the MySejahtera app, it was merely a misuse of the application programming interface (API).”

He added that upon receiving complaints, two security fixes were already implemented.

“We determined a weakness that could be exploited wherein the API was used to send one-time passwords (OTP) to users.

“We have determined what caused the problem and fixed it yesterday. Also, we have consulted with the National Cyber Security Agency to ramp up the app’s security.”

Yesterday, the media reported discrepancies related to MySejahtera after individuals complained they received OTPs to confirm their number for QR code registrations.

Meanwhile, Khairy said the app now has a new feature where those who meet requirements can request booster Covid-19 vaccine shots.

He added that this feature will only be available to individuals travelling to countries that require the extra dose.

“This booster dose is limited to the group I mentioned, including frontliners, senior citizens, and individuals with comorbidities.

“The exception will be for those going to umrah in Mecca, given the Saudi Arabian government has made it a requirement.” – The Vibes, October 21, 2021
