KOTA KINABALU – Labuan PAS is now calling for a sales ban on liquor after the policy implementation by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
State chapter chief Hamir Zahari, who is also the Labuan Corporation Advisory Council deputy chairman, made the call in a move to curb accidents, bad moral and addiction among younger generations.
“Labuan PAS wishes to congratulate DBKL over the move to prohibit the sale of liquor via enforcement from November 1.
“Labuan PAS believes that such effort should also be emulated by the local government in the effort to curb accidents caused by drunk drivers, moral deterioration, domestic violence and alcohol addiction among youths,” he said in a statement.
Hamir said the party will give its support and cooperation to the local government in the implementation of the ban on the island.
Labuan is a duty free island.
DBKL has imposed a restriction on the sale of liquor in grocery, convenience stores and Chinese medicinal shops from November 1. – The Vibes, November 5, 2021
