KUALA LUMPUR – Some 7,601 postal ballots have been issued by the Election Commission (EC) for use in the Melaka polls.
In a statement issued by EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak today, the issuance of the ballots were carried out by election officers in all 28 state constituencies yesterday.
Of the total postal ballots, 6,871 are Form 1A (election workers, EC officers, police, army personnel, and media personnel), 511 Form 1B (citizens who are out of the country), 113 Form 1C (nine agencies in the security and health sectors), and 106 out-of-country absentee voters.
The issuance of postal ballots were done with candidate representatives from all parties.
“The EC is reminding all postal voters to mark their ballots, complete and correctly fill in the identity declaration forms (Form 2), and immediately return them to the constituency managing officer before 5pm on polling day on November 20.
“Voters are also reminded to always maintain the secrecy of their votes by not taking pictures of the ballot papers and sharing them on social media.”
The EC has set November 20 as polling day for the Melaka election. Nomination day was on November 8 and early polling will be held on November 16.
The Melaka assembly was dissolved on October 4 after four representatives withdrew their support for the leadership of Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.
The four former assemblymen are Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Datuk Nor Azman Hassan, Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee and Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad. – The Vibes, November 10, 2021
